Our next visitors!
My cousin Ray and his wife Ale are coming to visit from Austin! Ale has a work conference downtown on Monday. So they are coming in tomorrow night and will spend the weekend with us before heading to downtown on Sunday! We're really excited to spend time with them ands show them the cities!
And you know me - I will be sure to take lots of pictures to show you just how FUN it is to come and visit us here! hehe Speaking of which...the Zajicek Hotel is currently accepting reservations for the month of February or later. :)
Aside from that, we are just bundling up and trying to stay warm. It was -13 when we left for work this morning. I was so scared of that number, but honestly, it doesn't feel tons different than 0 does. Now if the wind blows (like it did last night on our way to church), it's quite miserable. My fogged up windows freeze now every morning on the way to work b/c the windows are just that cold. So now, not only am I a dork whose car is completely fogged up and can't see where she's going - but I'm also entertaining myself by scraping ice off my windows inside my car as I drive . :) But don't worry, we're going to warm up to low 30s this weekend! Break out the shorts and flip flops! :)

BURR
That about sums up our weekend. BURR! The news said the high yesterday in Eden Prairie was -3. Today it was supposed to get up to 2. The lowest number we recorded on our thermometer was -13 Friday night. Eek!
What does it feel like you ask? Well, it's quite bitter but we've learned to just dress as warmly as possible and then life goes on as normal. We still went out to eat like we do every weekend, went to the mall, went to church - typical weekend. :) But, we have become quite the speed walkers to get from the car to wherever we were going to. We found that the first deep breath we take when we get outside, it makes us cough everytime. I haven't quite noticed anyone else doing that - we must be the only two coughing wierdos walking around. And, the moisture in my nose freezes after about 5-10 seconds (quite an odd sensation).
Last night, we went to the casino for a little while. We had the heat and defrost going pretty high on the way there because the windows in the car fog up pretty bad because of the temp difference between the inside of the car and outside temp. So we get to the casino, I put my purse in the trunk, and then we go inside for about 2 hours (ended up winning $15! wahoo!). So we come back out (-7 degrees), dash to the car and get inside. The leather straps to my purse were frozen standing up. It was so bizarre - I didn't realize that leather could freeze! THEN...apparently after we turned the heat off, the fogged up windows in the backseat turned to condensation. And the way I know that happened is because when we got back in, there was ice on the windows. But the thing was that the ice was on the INSIDE of the car. It's just that cold people. So being the Minnesota Texans we are, as we shivered and drove away, we drove straight to McDonalds for an ice cream cone. haha
But we're happy to say that we survived and have realized that we know how to adjust! I don't care to have tons of days like those (my hands are red and raw from being so dry) but at least I know how to survive. :)
So, for your viewing pleasure - this weekend Michael was all into doing experiments to see how quick water would freeze. So here is a random little video of him doing so. :) It's a bit hard to see, but just focus on the drop he puts on the balcony rail and watch the white ring that forms on the outside and works its way to the middle. Quite amazing to actually see water freeze that quick!
