Fall

Right now we are experiencing what they call an "indian summer". The guy on tv explained it well when he said that back in the old days, indians would know when it was time to harvest their crops when it was the first warm spell after the first frost. Sure enough, when my parents were here, we had our first frost, and now we are in a major warm spell - it's 84 degrees as I type!

Over the past week, the fall colors have really turned pretty! This morning, we walked around our neighborhood and took a few little pictures of some pretty yellow trees nearby.

Note: I thought we were just going for a leisurely walk, but then Michael grabbed the camera. So, I'm not exactly looking my best, so just focus on the pretty trees. :)

Apples and Fun!

This weekend, my parents came up for a long weekend. They came up Thursday night and left Sunday afternoon - we had SO much fun and enjoyed some fun fall activities!

Friday, we headed out to an apple orchard. It was the first time my parents had ever been to one so it was fun to share in that with them. We enjoyed many apples straight off the trees - so yum! We picked two pecks of apples - different varieties for cooking and eating. That night Mom and I made homemade apple pie, Saturday night we made apple crisp, and then Sunday morning we made apple pastries for breakfast before church. So very yum.

Saturday, Mom and I did some good shopping and enjoyed lunch together while the guys headed to the beer brew store. They bought some new grain to brew a new type of beer. That afternoon, we met back up with the guys and headed to the Sever's Corn Maze - America's largest corn maze. They also have a whole fall festival thing so we enjoyed everything there! We managed to find our way through the corn maze without getting TOO lost! :) Then that night, the guys grilled us some steaks and then spent the rest of the night brewing in the kitchen!

Today (Sunday), after church, we went to lunch at a little cafe in a nearby town and then went for custard - a yummy tradition we have with my parents. We also drove around and took some pictures in front of some pretty fall pictures.

As usual, we had such a wonderful time with my parents - we are so happy they came to visit and enjoyed every second with them!!

They just couldn't resist
