Ok, well this is a double post for one day so be sure to read below about our new tv stand....but I have some fun news to share! Today I was offered a new job in Cargill and have accepted the position! I didn't really mention to many people because it just seemed like the perfect job and I didn't want to jinx myself!
So, my new job will be a Meeting Manager in the Travel Services department in Cargill. Basically I will work with different meeting requestors in the various business units and assist them in the planning of their offsite meetings. So for example, if they say they want to have a conference for 100 people in San Diego in October....then I would research and send proposals to various hotels to receive bids for those events. Then set up the registration information for the business unit, assist in the other logistics of the meeting planning, etc. It's a little more detailed than that...but hopefully you get the idea.
I've done a lot of event planning in all the jobs I've had since I graduated. But now I will finally be out of the admin role and will get to just work on nothing but meetings. The department is very small - only 7 or 8 people. But because of the type of work, it offers a lot of flexibility. Pretty much everyone in the department works from home at least a couple of days a week. (which means it will be easy for me to pick people up at the airport in the middle of the day, hint hint...hehe).
So, I will be moving over to the building where Michael works. In fact, I will be working directly one floor below him! And, I will be sharing a wall with my friend Becky who works in the department just next door. So I'm excited to have a little easier access to my lunch buddies!
I'm so thankful for this opportunity and am thrilled that it all worked out. It was a bit of a frustrating process through it all - a screening interview, interview with the hiring manager, interview with the head of the department, then lunch yesterday with 3 of the team members. Ug, I was exhausted! But, luckily it was all worth it! I don't have my start date just yet, but next week my current boss, new boss and I will be meeting to figure out a good date that works out well for both business units.
Wahooey! :)
P.S. Happy birthday to my sister Katherine!!

New piece of furniture!
Well my handyman has been at work again! Michael just finished a beautiful stand/cabinet for our new tv. It turned out so great! What's wonderful about him making our living room furniture is that it allows us (mainly him) to figure out what shape we want it, special features, etc.
He made it out of the same wood and stain as all the other stuff, so it fits in perfectly with our other furniture. So far, he has made us an entertainment center (what we have downstairs now), coffee table, 2 end tables, and now our new tv stand. He really is so talented and I'm so proud of his hard work!
Here are some pics of the finished product!
