Easter 2013

We had such a great Easter this year and were thrilled to celebrate our first Easter as a family of four!  We had originally planned to go to my family for the weekend, but we decided Andrew wasn't quite ready for a 4 hour car ride just yet.  So we stayed home and planned our own little Easter celebration.

Saturday night, Joseph and I decorated Easter eggs.  It was the first little activity like this that I've done with Joseph where he really got into it.  It was so fun and a really sweet moment for me to share with him.  He was so focused and into it!  We colored on the eggs and made one for all 4 of us, plus one for Jesus.   Then we put stickers on them and put them in the dye.  When we took them out and I showed him how they turned colors, he got so excited and started clapping!   So fun!  Of course this morning I mentioned to him that I was going to make eggs for breakfast and he went and got the chair and started to scoot it over to the island again where we decorated eggs.  ;)

Sunday we went to Mass for a very beautiful service.  After we got home, Michael smoked us a ham for lunch and we also had black eyed peas, stuffing and deviled eggs - mmm!   We then did an Easter egg hunt for Joseph and he had a blast.  He enjoyed all the treats inside the eggs which consisted of some candy, goldfish, raisins, yogurt melts and animal crackers.  He also was so excited about the treats the Easter bunny left him in his basket - some Mickey Mouse bubbles, his very first bubble bath, some candy and some stickers.  And of course Andrew had fun watching all the festivities throughout the day when he was awake.  :)   He got to be in my arms when Joseph was doing his egg hunt and I know next year he will be right beside his big brother!

Later in the day, we walked to the entrance of our subdivision where the irises were in bloom and got some great pictures of Joseph.  On the way back, we also took some pics in front of our neighbors rose bushes.   I had hopes to get lots of cute pictures with both boys together, but Andrew's window is pretty short so we only managed to get a few.

So, our Easter was definitely very special since we got to have our sweet Andrew and our precious Joseph to celebrate with us.  It's fun to have little ones to start teaching the meaning of these important days too.   And of course, we are so grateful to Jesus for his incredible sacrifice and the love He continues to show us every day!

So serious!

And here's the smile!

My favorite!  (and in case you were wondering, to get these smiles I was singing "Do your ears hang low?")
