Our new house has a nice big backyard but unfortunately since it was one of the first new houses in the already existing neighborhood, there was some confusion between the builder and the septic company and basically they cleared out all the trees in our yard when they ended up not having to. Boo.
So, a few weeks ago, we went and bought a red maple tree. It's supposed to grow quickly and be a good shade tree! We bought one that had already been growing a while so that we weren't starting off from a baby tree.
Then this past weekend, when we were in Temple for Thanksgiving, we went out to the land where Michael grew up and he dug up several different trees growing out there (his parents still own the land but no longer live out there). So we brought back two elm trees, a crepe myrtle (sp?), a couple of baby pecan trees, and some rose bushes from his Mom. We're hoping they will all survive the transplant!
Michael got them all planted, with the help of his favorite 2 year old helper of course! And he only nicked the sprinkler line twice and septic line once. Eeek.....
