Ike

On a more serious note...we just wanted everyone to know that we are sending our prayers to all of you as Hurricane Ike approaches Texas. I know my sister in Bacliff (south of Houston) and her kiddos are on my way to my parents house as we speak.

So please, everyone stay safe. Don't take any chances - just do what you need to do to be careful. In the meantime, we will keep praying that it has as little of an impact as possible.

So far behind

If you are wondering why there has been a lack of posts lately, it is because things have been crazy busy here! Basically for the past two weeks, I have been trying to get settled in my new job (which I love) but am still working on this big conference for my old job. The conference is next week so it's pretty much at the peak of its craziness! And no, there is no one else to do this stuff besides me b/c the temp in my old position has only created 1 Powerpoint slide out of 55 that I asked her to create last Friday. ?? Anyways, I worked 4 hours on Sunday, worked 2 hours last night after I got home, and then was up at work at 6:45am this morning for an 11 hour day. Oy. I just keep telling myself that it is temporary though. Things will be much better once this thing is over next week!

I am able to fit in a little bit of my new job stuff and I really like it. I'm in the process of booking my first meeting that will be in Chicago. I've gotten some good feedback from my coworkers on my progress so far, so at least I'm on the right track.

Ok...to recap the weekend...our friend Chris was in town! Chris came last week for the Republican National Convention. After visiting his grandparents that live a couple of hours away, he came and spent Saturday and Saturday night with us.

That afternoon, we all 3 went to the Minnesota/Western Wisconsin A&M club get together! It was at someone's house in Wisconsin - about an hour away. There were quite a few people - from class of '08 to class of "so old I didn't even recognize the old Aggie ring!". :) There were several other young couples there - 2 of which moved up here from Houston one month before we did. So Michael assigned me friend making duty. So, I did my thing at the party...and yes I'm going to follow up with an email to keep in touch with them. It felt so good to have people to say YALL with. Ahhh...... And everyone loved talking to Chris about the RNC - good ol' conservative Aggies! :)

Then we came back and Chris showed us his fun pics from the RNC and shared his crazy stories (i.e. not realizing it was Laura Bush that was standing next to him while he poured his orange juice!). Unfortunately, Chris had a 6am flight out on Sunday - but we were just thrilled we got to see him and visit with him.
