Just wanted to let you all know that Michael and I are both safe. The bridge that collapsed is near downtown Minneapolis, about 20-25 minutes from where we live. Luckily though, our commute does not take us anywhere near that area. Thanks to all of you for checking in on us!
Please continue to pray for everyone involved in this horrible tragedy. The city/state is obviously very shaken right now, to say the least.

Funny Minnesota Things...
So the reason for not many posts lately....Harry Potter book #7 of course!!! I finally finished reading it Monday night. I stayed up til midnight to finish it. Oh my gosh is it good! JK Rowling is one brilliant writer. This book was totally action packed from the first page til the last!
Anyways, on a different note, now that my evenings are free again, yall get to read 2 posts from the same say! Here are some more funny Minnesota things we have experienced...
1. On multiple occasions we have heard people here talk about "going North" for the weekend. ?? The other day, I was on the phone at work getting a new cell phone set up for my boss and the lady asked me "Well, does he travel up north much?" ??!?!!! Um, hello lady! Only thing further north is Canada and the North Pole! So I had to ask her to define what she meant by north exactly and informed her that I just moved from Houston, so to me this is about as north as it comes! :)
2. "Minnesota Nice" - It really does exist! People here are so friendly and really go out of their way to help and tell you all the good things to see in Minnesota. Oddly though, we have gotten the advice where we just didn't expect it. Instance one...on July 4th, we got pulled over in a parking lot for expired registration stickers from TX (oops!). So Michael had to walk back to the policewoman's car and was back there for a good 15-20 min. I was getting so impatient and couldn't imagine what could be taking SO long! He came back laughing his head off...the cop had given him a piece of paper front and back of places to tour in Minnesota! (and don't worry, we will be doing the touring around in Mr. Zippy with his new MN license plates and current registration) :) Instance two....Michael had a dr's appt a couple of weeks ago. Came home with an allergy prescription and another piece of paper full of places to see that the doctor had given him. I mean really, there's a time and a place people! haha
3. Lots of bunnies! There are little brown bunnies with white tails everywhere here! They're so cute! Any time I'm on the phone here, I like to lay on either the bed in our bedroom or the guest bedroom and stare across the street to the strip of grass with some trees. Normally there are about 1-3 bunnies just hopping around. So I like to think we are living in the land of the Zajiceks! Zajicek means "little rabit" in Czech! :)
4. "Mild Winters" - So everyone has told us to not worry because the winters have been very mild the past few years. However, when you ask them to define what a mild winter is, apparently that means there is only 2 feet of snow and there isn't a week of -20 degree temperatures. ?!?!?!?!?!?!?! Ug.......
5. Texas pops up everywhere. Today on my way into the grocery store, I parked 2 spots down from a minivan that had a TX license plates with a Kingwood dealer sign on it! Small world!
6. Rest assured that I still have a TX accent, apparently. I am still reminded a couple of times a week that people hear my southern accent. I really don't think I have one but I think they just imagine one because they talk so funny.

Weekend with Friends!
Gosh, I didn't realize it had been so long since I updated our blog!
Last weekend was super fun. We drove to Des Moines, IA (about 3 1/2 hrs away) to see our friends Jared & Amber. Jared & Michael grew up together in Rogers, and Jared works for Cargill too. They lived in our neighborhood in Humble and we were at their house 3-4 nights a week playing spades. :) So now they just moved to Des Moines and thank goodness are now driving distance from us!!
We headed down Friday after work. We loved seeing their new house and car! It was such a fun weekend. Saturday the guys played golf so Amber and I took Max & Sadie to the zoo! It was really fun, but actually a bit hot and humid! Sat night we had a good old BBQ with steaks and baked potatoes. The rest of the weekend was pretty much spent playing spades! Just like old times! :) I won't tell you who won all six games though....b/c Amber reads this and we want to be invited back one day. ;) We are just so happy to have our good friends so close!
