A "Berry" Good Time

In honor of our "summer of fresh picked fruit", we found a local blueberry farm and went to pick our own blueberries!  We invited Michael's sister Lauren and her husband Luke along for our first blueberry picking experience!

I have to say I enjoyed it more than the peach experience.  No bugs at all like there were with the peaches.   The blueberry trees were really pretty too!  And It's nice since the berries grow all over the tree - high and low - so Joseph was able to pick some and put them in his own bucket.  Although, I am pretty sure he ate way more than what he put into his bucket.  :)   He loves blueberries so it was great to pick a big batch to go home with.  And, this particular blueberry farm doesn't use any chemicals on their trees so it was nice and organic.

We stayed for about an hour and came away with about 2 1/2 pounds of berries.  Joseph had lots of fun but after a while he resorted to his typical play in the dirt game.  :)     Michael and I had a blast and enjoyed a yummy blueberry cobbler that night!   Surprisingly, we were out of blueberries by the next Wednesday, boo.   So....we decided to go back the next weekend and do it again!   This time we just got up and went so we could get going before it got too hot.  We came away with about 4 1/2 lbs that time!  We ate on those for a couple of weeks - so yum!   I look forward to making this one a yearly tradition!

The berries grow in little clusters typically - some would be ripe and some still green
