Finally back to the blog...and now a mommy of THREE! We welcomed our third beautiful son on Thursday, January 29, 2015...Matthew Stephen! He was born at 1:19pm weighing 7 lbs, 7 oz and 20 inches long.
My parents came in town the night before the delivery to watch the boys. My C-section wasn't until 12:30 so we didn't have to be at the hospital until 11am. We got all checked in and it's amazing how quickly the time goes while you are waiting for everything...so many things to do and monitor!
Finally it was time (after my doctor was a bit late arriving). They walked me into the delivery room and I got teary just with all the day's emotions hitting me and realizing how my life was about to change in an incredible way once again. We had incredible staff with my doctor and all the OR nurses so I was in great hands. They brought Michael in once I was all situated and before we knew it the big moment was here. My doctor had the nurses pull the drape down so I could see my sweet baby Matthew who was finally here! He was just precious and so beautiful!
They took him off to the side to do all his measurements and Michael was with him. Then they brought him to me and I was able to do skin-to-skin with him on the OR table throughout the remainder of the C-section. It was so great! Then once I was all done we were taken to a recovery area for a couple of hours before being moved to our post-partum room.
Soon after getting in the room and feeding Matthew, my parents came with the boys and we got to introduce the boys to their new brother. Unfortunately, Joseph had a bad cold so we had to keep him back a bit. Michael's parents came in the next night and were thrilled to meet their new grandson as well!
My recovery went very well. With Andrew I had really severe itching from the epidural, but luckily it was much better this time around. And my nausea was much better afterwards as well! We decided to not rush home this time and stayed through Sunday which worked out great. By then Matthew and I were both definitely ready and it just felt like the right time to get home. And we were so thrilled to get home and have our family of five together at last!
