Joseph - 15 months!

It's time for Joseph's 15 month update!  Seriously, wasn't it just yesterday that I did his one year update??  :P  This may be a little lengthy but it's all stuff I want to remember when I look back on this post one day.

Our sweet little guy is growing so fast.  Over the past 3 months (since his last official update), he has gotten SOOOO busy and is understanding so much!  Once he started walking a couple of weeks after his first birthday, it has opened up a whole new world to him.  Every time I think we have our house somewhat baby proofed, he finds new things to get into.  :)    I love giving him the flexibility to learn and explore, but goodness it sure can result in a messy house!

He also can understand so much now.  He understands things we say (obviously not all things) but if I tell him to go get his shoes, he will go get his shoes.  One day we were playing in the playroom and he was acting quite tired, so I asked him "do you want to go night night?" and he said "ya" and walked straight into his room!

He LOVES to go outside for any reason.  Whether it's to check on the garden with daddy or to go check the mail for our regular 5pm routine, he gets so excited to put his shoes on and then will go stand at the door until you get there.  And lately, his new thing when he takes his shoes off is to leave one on and he walks around the whole house staring at his feet with while walking lobsided with only one shoe on.

He still eats good and has started showing a lot of interest in using a fork to eat.  So I bought him some little plastic forks and spoons so he has fun with those.  He drinks his milk like a champ and the boy would eat cheese for every meal if I would let him!  :)  It's a lot of fun now that he can eat more of what we eat at dinner time.

As Joseph has gotten more mobile and interactive, he and Michael have formed the sweetest little bond.  He is definitely daddy's little buddy and if Michael is home, Joseph is always by his side or saying "da da, da da, da da".  Every night after dinner, they play chase and Joseph just laughs his head off.  Michael will lay on the floor and Joseph will come plop on him and just this week, Joseph has started lifting Michael's shirt to blow raspberries on Michael's tummy - just like Michael does to him!  haha!

Now that we are past this latest teething spell, Joseph is back to sleeping like a champ.  He puts himself to sleep.  He goes down for the night around 8:15 and has been sleeping until 7:20.  I feel like he may be starting to go down to just one nap (ug) but he still takes somewhat of a nap in the morning and then a good nap around 3ish.

At his 15 month appt, Joseph looked great!  He weighs 24 lbs, 11 oz and is up to the 50%!  He had been in the 20-25% for so long, so I was actually glad to see him go up a bit!  He is also 50% in height and is still 90% for head.  :P

I love our days and weeks together.  Our weeks typically consist of some errands, a couple of playdates and then story time at the library.   Here are some other fun things about Joseph as well as some new pictures:
-when I make our bed in the morning, he loves to hand me the throw pillows one at a time - such a good helper!
-when I dry my hair and have my head tilted over upside down, he loves to run back and forth through my hair
-he loves dogs and calls them "ba"!
-he is really started to "talk" a lot more lately.  He even points while he talks.  We're still working on actual words, but I have a feeling that isn't too far away.
-he is super friendly and loves new people. After having a few minutes to warm up to someone new, he is then their new BFF and wants them to pick him up, etc.
-he loves the playroom in our house and will sit in there for very long periods of time and play his little heart out
-he has a thing where he has to touch every one when he walks by - whether it's a doctor's office, mall play area, etc. Just yesterday at the mall play area, he had both hands out touching people left and right as he walked by - I was laughing my head off!
-he loves to throw balls and really enjoys pulling toys
-he certainly gets frustrated at times and will cry and sit down and put his head on the floor.  Poor little guy!

Having fun in Grandma Z's backyard! He loved the stone path!

Enjoying his playroom.  Look how much more "playroomy" our dining room looks now!

Yesterday, we went to the Memorial City mall with a friend.  Here is his ride on the carousel.

He loved this play area - it was so neat!

Lots of great places to practice his climbing - which he loves!!

Climbing up after his little friend Annabelle

The play area has this whole "castle" that is huge and has so many great places for the kids to play and learn

Eating appleasuce like the big boy he is...

...until he realizes it's much easier to just ditch the spoon and lick it out of the bowl!  :P

And his 15 mo growth pic with Kermie!   Is it just me, or is my baby boy getting a "little boy" look??!   :*(

Birthday Boy

As usual, I'm so behind on the blog!  Lots to catch up on!    To start with, last Wednesday was Michael's 30th birthday!!  That's right, Michael is finally in his 30s!!

We headed to Temple for his birthday weekend.  Michael's Grandpa also has the same birthday, so that Saturday we went to lunch with all of Michael's extended family to celebrate his Grandpa's 94th birthday!   Most of the extended family had never seen Joseph, so it was really fun and he willingly went to whoever wanted to hold him or play with him!

That evening, we had Michael's celebration!  Both of Michael's siblings and their families were there as well as Michael's Grandma.  Jimmy grilled us some yummy steaks and we had all sorts of yummy sides.   Then Michael's mom made (per Michael's request) a yummy cherry pecan birthday cake.  We had a great meal and Michael received some wonderful gifts!   It was a very fun weekend and we had a great time celebrating Michael.  He is so special and a blessing to so many people and it was great to focus on him for his special day.  And the best part was he seemed so happy and said many times how much fun he had and that the party was just what he wanted - so that made me happy!

On his actual birthday, since it fell on a Wednesday, we went out to dinner for some mexican food at a little local place we go to a lot.  Then since he "only" got 2 pieces of his birthday cake over the weekend, he asked for another cherry pecan birthday cake, so I made him one that day.  Michael's sister Lauren and her husband Luke joined us for dinner, so it was a nice evening!

Here are pictures from the birthday celebration in Temple:

The party begins!

So glad he is finally joining me in the 30s!  hehe

Time for cake!

Happy birthday to my incredible husband!

Making a wish

He got a new fishing pole from Lauren & Luke and can't wait to use it!

I gave him the miter saw on the left, and Joseph gave him the tool kit (that he is playing with) as well as a new cover for the gas grill.   :)
