The nurse initially told me to come in and have the doctor check me since it was the day before the weekend. So I made an appointment and didn't feel too worried about anything. Then about a minute later, the nurse called back and said the doctor paged her and told her to have me go to Labor & Delivery at the hospital to get checked, just in case. Eek! Can you say panic mode?! I just was not expecting that and somehow going to L&D just made it a lot bigger of a deal and an actual possibility that we could have the baby today.
So Michael left work and came home and meanwhile I scrambled to get a bag together. Since I wasn't sure what to expect, I figured it was better to be prepared in case they decided to keep me and do the c-section today. We made it to the hospital and got sent to the triage room. They did a test to see if I was leaking aminotic fluid and luckily it came back negative. So basically just a false alarm, but I'm thankful they did a test on it just to rule out any possible amnio fluid leak. Then before we knew it, we were in the car going through the drive thru of Chickfila like it was some regular day.
I kinda felt myself a little disapointed in a way earlier this evening. While I was very glad for the baby's sake that there was no fluid leaking so he could stay in and keep growing and developing for another 13 days, I have to admit that it was a bit of an exciting rush to think that we were possibly going to meet our little baby today. But again, I'm happy for the way it turned out...I just have to keep being patient and wait another 13 days!
In other news, we had an ultrasound last week to check the baby's growth. My belly started measuring a few weeks ahead of schedule so they wanted to see how big the baby was. The ultrasound showed that he is actually right on schedule and was in the 69% for estimated weight. He measured only 3 days ahead so he was right on track, which is other great news! My guess for when he is born (assuming he stays on track for the 14th) is that he will be between 8.5-9 lbs. Still a very good sized baby, but I don't think he will be near as big as Joseph (9lbs, 11oz). We will see though!
Also, last night I had a fun girls night dinner with my friends Leah and Lauren. They are friends from our story time at the library and we all get together regularly for playdates and lunches. It was our first time to do something just the 3 of us with no kids and they wanted to take me to dinner before the baby is born. We went to Carabba's Italian and it was such a nice time! We were all so excited to wear real dangly jewelry without having to worry about it being pulled and tugged on by little hands. :) It was funny at first because the majority of our conversation revolved around breastfeeding, sleep and other fun mom topics, haha. We all enjoyed getting to just sit and talk for a while and enjoyed a little dinner break from multitasking!
| 37 weeks! (and one last fresh haircut - I got 2 inches cut since I knew it would be a while before I had time to go get another cut!) |
