Sister Time

The week of our anniversary, I took the boys to my sister Kristina's house for a couple of days where my sister Katherine was also in town.  We enjoyed a couple days of fun sister time with all the kiddos together!

Kristina has a swimming pool in their new house and we all had a great time swimming in it.  Joseph did great and was very comfortable in the water.  Andrew liked it too and was very relaxed and chilled out while he was in the water.

Tuesday, we went to the Brookshire's park and let the kids play.  It was such a nice park. It even had this old fire engine the kids can play on and I kid you not, Joseph played there the entire time!   We took a picnic lunch and enjoyed the beautiful and unseasonably cool weather!  That night, we had a pool party to celebrate my niece Annie's birthday!  My parents came over too which was nice to see them while we were in town.

The next day, we took the kids to a bouncy house place to play and then went to lunch afterwards.  Since our anniversary was the next day, we came back after lunch.  We had a great time and the boys did really well in the car for our first road trip just me and them!

The boys had fun playing in the "safe" drawer in Aunt Kristina's kitchen

I had to take this pic of Joseph sleeping that night. He rolled right off his little toddler air mattress bed.  He was so heavy to move back on to his bed!

10 Years!

On June 12, Michael and I celebrated our 10 year anniversary!  How in the world has it already been 10 years?!

Up until now we had never spent the night away from the boys (aside from being in the hospital to deliver Andrew but that doesn't really count).  We decided for our anniversary to do our first overnight stay just the two of us!   We went back and forth on what to do and finally decided that for our first little trip we would just stay somewhat close to home.  So we booked a room at the Marriott Waterway in The Woodlands, just north of Houston.

The Woodlands really is a fun and neat area with lots to do within walking distance.  And since we didn't end up going anywhere extravagant, we decided to splurge on all the little things.  Michael's parents came in the night before to watch the boys for us.

We left the next day around 3pm to head to the hotel.  That afternoon Michael went for a massage at the hotel spa while I enjoyed a nice relaxing pedicure.  Then we got ready for dinner and headed to this place near our hotel.  I forget the name of it, but it was some place we had never heard of.   It was quite yummy too!   Michael ordered the special of the day which was swordfish and I went for a yummy steak!  After dinner, we decided we really wanted to go and watch a movie at the theater...something we haven't done together in over 3 years!   So while we were waiting for our movie, we went to the mall and did a little pre-vacation shopping (post coming soon!).  Then we went to the movie and saw Edge of Tomorrow.

The next morning, we went to breakfast which was a fun treat.  We ran a couple of errands on the way home and then headed home.   It was such a fun and relaxing overnight trip.  And, it was great to spend time just the two of us...such a rare treat!      By Saturday morning, I sure was ready to get home to my babies though!        Joseph and Andrew did well with Michael's parents.  Joseph had a few teary moments but I think his lack of nap that day just escalated his feelings.  But a couple of talks on the phone with Momma and he was ok.  :)

I am so blessed to be married to Michael and am so grateful for the life we have together.  He is such a good person and makes me smile every day.  He is an incredible father to our sweet boys and he is such a good support for me.  It's so exciting to celebrate such a huge milestone and I feel just as excited for the next 10 years!

Here are a few pics I took with my phone on our little overnight trip:
