Daily Life

Now that Joseph is a year old, I will probably just start doing his updates on the blog every 3 months.  Having said that though, he has just been up to so much lately that I had to blog about a few things and I also have a bunch of miscellaneous pictures that I decided to include.  :)

First of all, Joseph is walking so well!  He is getting so much faster, and if we're playing chase or he thinks it's time to go outside, he will get so close to a run but he's just not quite there.   He's definitely had his share of big bruises on his forehead from a few falls here and there.   His latest thing is that he loves to walk around and drink his water from his sippy cup.  It's like he's showing off that he can do both things at once because I know he's not actually that thirsty!

The most exciting thing lately is that he has been sleeping like a champ!!  Ever since he started walking he has been a totally different baby come sleep time.  He now naps for about an hour in the morning and then anywhere from 1 hour 20 min to 2 hours in the afternoon!!  And at night, he typically sleeps straight all night long (give or take a wake up here or there).   We've got to where we just lay him in his crib, leave the room and he puts himself to sleep in a matter of minutes with no crying or anything.   He used to scream if we left the room and he was still awake.    The long naps have been heavenly though because it's given me some extra time to work out and get other things done while he is asleep!

He is also becoming very vocal and using a lot of sounds when he points at things.  He is getting a lot more particular about the food he eats. He still likes a lot of things but when he's not in the mood for something, he has to throw it all off the side of his high chair...ug.        He is definitely still very busy and is loving his new world now that he can walk everywhere.  He loves to put different toys/objects in particular places. It's like once he decides something goes somewhere, then everything goes in that spot.  It cracks me up!

Joseph continues to be such a joy and we adore our life with him.  We have a lot of fun activities coming up this summer, but it's amazing how fun and entertaining just our routine days can be!

Every day around 5pm, we go and check the mail. Then we come back and I let Joseph play with all the junk mail while I sort the rest.   He loves it and it is a good time filler for that before dinner time.
Not the best pic of Joseph but I thought it was a sweet picture - you can definitely see the resemblance in this picture!
When I get ready in the mornings, I let Joseph play around (aka destroy) our bathroom and bedroom area.  One day while I dried my hair, he walked back and forth from Michael's closet and piled every one of Michael's shoes and belts in the laundry basket I had sitting out.  It made me laugh seeing that little blonde head bob back and forth behind me in the mirror.
My little laundry helper.  If I hand him a sock or something small, he will sometimes put it in the dryer for me. But typically he likes to pull things out or play in the lent tray.
Another fun day at the Children's Museum with our friends Bridget and little Alexandra.
"Come on in Alexandra, I'll take you for a ride!"

"Wow, look at us go!"
"This car is fun!"

"Hey, do you see what I see??"
"Joseph, you're a scary driver...I'm outta here!"
Earlier tonight, I saw Joseph in our room going back and forth to our bathroom. He even came out and got a couple of toys.  I figured he was piling them in the bathtub or in one of our closets and since I was watching the Adele interview on tv I tried just calling for him to come back.   When he didn't come this time, I went and found him splashing in the toilet water.  OMG.    In the water...stacking block, blue ball, little farmer, little pig, 2 artificial roses that we let him play with, and my old cell phone (which we just gave him as his own cell toy).   EEEEK!
Daddy & Joseph going to check on the garden. Joseph LOVES going outside to play now!
Garden update!  The left side has tomato plants and the front has lettuce, carrots and bell pepper!
