Daily Life

Well our summer started off so busy with some exciting trip or plans every weekend - resulting in very informative posts with fun pics. Then it came to a screeching halt. Not really sure why, it just has.

Our daily routine consists of work, dinner, watch some tv, and then play Tetris on Wii the remainder of the night. :) The past few weekends we haven't done too much. We normally get together with some friends for dinner or a movie like we did this past weekend. One weekend, Michael went to the horse races with Josh and the next weekend I went to lunch and the movies with Josh's wife Julie. I still can't believe how many wonderful people we've met here.

Work is going good for both of us. Things started getting really busy again in my job but have slowed down drastically the past couple of days. Needless to say, it was a LONG day today. Michael is still in his offseason for work until the fall wheat signups begin for crop insurance. He's starting to book a few trips here and there for later this month and into September, but nothing crazy like what he was doing in January-March of this year.

We had a crazy storm on Friday night with major flash flooding that lasted for hours. That resulted in us being up at 1:30 in the morning making sure things in our basement were prepared just in case the sump pump broke again and things flooded. Luckily ours withstood the storm, but several of our neighbors are still drying out their rugs and carpet. :\

I'll end with a pet peeve. I am SO tired of people here acting like they live in the most extreme weather state in the country. I mean sure winter - I give them the award for most awful winter hands down. But yet again today, another coworker was complaining about yesterday's humidity and told me that she assumes it's not really humid in Texas. ??!?!?!? Seriously people?! What part of living in a state with a coast line on the gulf would not make you even ponder the fact that it could possibly be more humid than Minneapolis, MN. Ugh. I'm probably totally snobby with my responses when I inform them that I've felt humidity in the air here probably 5 times in the 2+ years we've lived here. Whereas in Texas, its horribly humid 365 days a year. And yes, last night on the weather, it had "HOT" written in all red capital letters on the weather forecast for the week because....wait for it....the high could get up to 90 degrees this week!!!!!!! Vent over. Sorry, it just really gets annoying. I just feel like they're a little TOO into their weather here and think they have it worse than anyone no matter what season it is. Whatever.
