Candy Corn Festival

Joseph's preschool had a "Candy Corn Festival" for Halloween.  The kids all got to dress up in their costumes, parade through the courtyard for all the parents and then go to the little carnival for games and prizes followed by a special lunch brought in from Chickfila!

I kinda got pulled into volunteering at the carnival.  I definitely wanted to but was concerned that Andrew would make it difficult.  But luckily it all worked out great and it was fun to help out.  And Andrew had a blast too!

Unfortunately, I didn't realize it but Joseph was in the process of coming down with strep throat.  :(   That morning, we had a very hard morning before school.  And every time I saw him at school during the parade and carnival, he just had a very blank stare and wasn't very into anything. I was kinda bummed and was worried that what if that is how he was at school every day and I just didn't realize it.  When I picked him up from school that afternoon, the teacher told me he actually took a nap during their rest time which was his first time!  Then she kinda frowned and said she wondered if he was coming down with something because he was very much not himself and wouldn't eat his lunch. (and she confirmed that he normally isn't that blah at school like how I saw him)  And then he napped which was a big clue.   Sure enough by the time we got home he started running a fever and the next morning we went to the doctor where we got the positive strep test.
All dressed up for a fun day at school

Joseph and two of the little boys in his class were at the back of the line behind his teacher Ms. Jackie (Red Riding Hood)

Joseph and his classmates (and Roo) at the bubble pop station. They had sheets of bubble wrap taped to the floor where the kids could pop it with their feet!

And the fever hits about an hour after we got home.  :(

Zoo Boo

I just realized I have quite a few Halloween posts to finish up before moving on to November, so here we go!

A couple of weeks ago, Michael took a random Friday off since he has some extra vacation days, and we all went to Zoo Boo!  I haven't missed a Zoo Boo since we moved back to Houston, so it's become a fun tradition.  Basically the zoo decorates throughout with different Halloween décor, passes out candy at various candy stations, a little pumpkin patch (that was already closed by the time we made our way to it, boo!) and all the kids get to wear their costumes.

It was a beautiful day and I was so happy Michael was able to go with us to the zoo!  The boys had a great time too, as usual!  They shed their costumes after a while because it got a little warm for them.  They had fun getting candy at the candy stations of course!

Andrew was not a fan of wearing the Giraffe head of his costume

Ready to go inside!
