Sheesh, where has all my free time gone?! :P I am a lovely 2 1/2 months late with this post, but I am finally getting it done! And this one is all about my sweet little Roo who is now 2 years old!
This year's birthday for Roo was quite hard for me because we were still in the middle of our hospital stay with Matthew when he was sick. It was SO hard for me to not be able to be home with Andrew on his special day. But, my mom brought them up and we were able to go to Subway for lunch and then that evening I actually ran home for a quick dinner with the boys and mom and was able to give Andrew one of his birthday presents and have a birthday cookie. When we came home from the hospital, we did a little party for Andrew that night and gave him the rest of his gifts, as well as his birthday cake! I know he didn't know the difference but it was still hard. Then we had planned to have his birthday party the same day as Matthew's baptism, but given that it was scheduled for only a week and a half after we finally got home from the hospital, we decided to cancel the weekend and reschedule the baptism so that Matthew wasn't around a bunch of people until he was a bit older. I had terrible guilt about not being able to have a big family party for Andrew. And I know everyone told me that he is young and wouldn't know the difference...and I knew that, but for me it was sad not getting to have that moment to celebrate him and all that he is to us. Our sweet little Roo!
Now on to a little about Roo at this age...what a sweet boy he is! He has the most beautiful blue eyes that just capture my heart every time I look at him. And now that his hair is getting thicker, the red is really starting to show more! He is definitely a strawberry blonde! He is such a fun little guy and is big into jumping right now. So he's always just running around doing little jumps - so cute. He loves to play outside and is still very into playing with trucks and tractors of any kind. He is so good about playing by himself and will just go get a truck and start pushing it around in his own little world. He so enjoys his big brother (when they are being nice to each other, ha!) and just copies all the little actions and sounds Joseph makes. He is definitely my little cuddle bug too - he's always been more affectionate and loves to sit in our laps. He sleeps good at night unless he is teething. He just cut 3 of his 4 canine teeth. So he has one more of those and then his four 2 year molars and he will be done! Andrew also has a very "spirited" side too. He tends to go through spells of biting (mainly Joseph) and hits a lot, so we are working on that. And now that he is 2, he seems to really be embracing that and has learned quite the tantrum production - oy!
We had made major progress on his fire ant shots...we have 3 more injections and then we will only have to go once a month - yay! In other allergy news - we recently found out through testing at the allergist office that he is also allergic to penicillin. Boo! His 2 year well check went well. His speech is behind and he isn't where he should be though. Joseph was a very late talker too so I figured Andrew was on the same path. But since he has had a small handful of ear infections, the doctor wanted to do a hearing test. Turned out he had some fluid which has now resolved. But after an appt with the ENT dr last week one of the tests is still not having accurate results for his left ear so we have to go back in 2-3 months to have that rechecked. Not too sure what to expect with all that, but hoping everything is ok! After we get the ear issues resolved we will go ahead and start him in some speech therapy to help him catch up a big with his talking. He certainly has improved and has a lot of his own little words - more and more every day - but not quite to where he should be at this age.
We sure love our little Andrew and he brightens our lives every day! Our sweet little Valentine!
