Valentine's Day was a very big day in our house this year....because our sweet little Andrew turned ONE year old!
Michael actually took the day off work so it was great to spend the day all together on Andrew's big day. We mainly spent the day getting everything ready for Andrew's big party the next day. But for dinner, Michael started a little campfire in our backyard and we had some hot dogs for dinner! My family came in that night and then we started our fun weekend celebrating Andrew.
We decided to just do family only for Andrew's first birthday party. My parents, my sister Katherine and her family, Michael's parents, and Michael's sister Lauren and her husband all came. It was a little bit of a smaller crowd but we still had such a blast. The party was at 11. I had to wake Andrew up from his morning nap so that he could join his own party before we ate pizza for lunch! :) Then after lunch we helped Andrew open his gifts (although I'm pretty sure Joseph thinks they are all for him!) and then we did his birthday cake - and he loved it!!
We enjoyed the whole day just being outside. The weather was absolutely perfect with a high of 68 and sunny all day. It was our first big event at our new house which was really fun. So, we enjoyed our big backyard for the big event. We had bocce ball, washers, bean bag toss, dominoes, and the little ones had fun in the sand box. For dinner, we had some yummy pork chops that Michael grilled and I made some homemade macaroni & cheese and steamed green beans. After that, we headed back outside to do some s'mores over the campfire in the backyard. The kids all had a blast! After all the kids got tucked away in bed, we changed into our comfies and enjoyed a night of playing games at the kitchen table. Always so fun and we always have lots of laughs!
Now on to Andrew's one year update! We took him to his dr appt on Monday and he now weighs 22lbs 6 oz (67%) and is 29.25in long (25%) and his head is still in the 75%. ;) He got a great check up, despite the 4 shots and finger prick for blood work. :(
Andrew is really starting to walk more and more! He is doing it more and more on his own and just always has the biggest smile on his face! He is still sleeping excellent! He goes to bed around 8 and normally wakes up between 6:15 and 6:30. Then he naps around 10:30 and then again around 3/3:30. He still is a mediocre eater and lately he has started blowing raspberries in order to blow his food out. He still just has his two bottom teeth and no real signs of any other teeth yet - but we are enjoying the break between teething spells!
He is also finally getting a little better at riding in the car...he's never been the biggest fan.
Andrew really likes to climb the stairs and another of his favorites is to pull out my air freshener plug ins! He likes to throw balls and is seeming to dance a little to music from his toys. He does not like having his diaper changed, getting his hands wiped after eating or when I put him down at certain times....especially when I need to make dinner. He has also developed a little temper and will cry so hard if I have to take an object away from him or if I won't let him have something...we're talking he lays his head down on the floor crying kind of temper!
I can not even believe Andrew is one year old! I was definitely teary last week thinking about my little bitty turning one. I decided it's definitely a bittersweet birthday - because on one hand I feel like it's a celebration that we all survived the first year and all its hardships, but then it's sad because just saying your baby is one just makes them not sound like a "baby" anymore. We had such a great weekend celebrating Andrew. I told Michael on Saturday that my heart was just so full - full of love and happiness! It's crazy how when you only have one baby you can't imagine loving another little one so much or knowing that child as deeply as you know your older one. But then you do and you are just amazed by how deeply you can love these precious creations from God! We love you sweet precious Andrew!!
