On the Countdown...

It was so fun reading everyone's guesses on when you think our little guy will be born and what he will be like! And a special thanks to those who wishfully said I would deliver early - I'm praying you are right! :)

Right now, there really is not a whole lot new to report. Our nights have actually been pretty boring and lazy, but I'm trying to appreciate the downtime while it lasts! :) We have our hospital bags packed, the nursery all ready, the carseat installed in the car (and inspected!), a pediatrician selected (and interviewed!), and now we are just playing the waiting game. I feel happy for how prepared we feel at home - now we will just keep waiting for our sweet Joseph to get here!

In other exciting news, tomorrow is my last day of work! I'll use my last week of vacation next week and then start my "maternity leave" the week of April 11. I've been so anxious for this day for quite some time - and honestly I can't believe it's finally here! I've been in the work force for about 9 1/2 years now! I found myself feeling a bunch of unexpected mixed emotions this week thinking about it being my last week of work. I am SOOO excited to stay at home with Joseph, but it is definitely a huge change and adjustment!

In totally random news, I found out today that my OB doctor left the practice. ???!!! Not what you want to hear 2 weeks before your due date. Because of the way this practice is, the only way she would have been the one to deliver the baby would be if she happened to be on call that day of the month. So most likely we would have gotten one of her partners anyways, but still. It's just a bit unsettling...especially at this point when I'm someone who doesn't deal with change super well....and I'm 38 weeks pregnant....and pretty hormonal. ;)

So now we just wait! When the big day does arrive, we are taking the computer with us to the hospital because they have free wi-fi all throughout. My hope and goal is to post a lot of pictures and videos on the blog and on facebook. So be sure to check back here for updates. It will just be me and Michael at the hospital so in between naps and feedings and visits from friends, we will try to post as many updates as possible. It is definitely going to be hard to not be near our families during this big moment, but as I told my parents, I would rather them wait and come after we know he will definitely be born so they can get the most out of their visit. So, on April 22, my parents will come up and stay with us for 8 days to see the baby and help out...I know it will be great to have that extra help once we are back home and I'm so looking forward to them being here! Then Michael's family and my parents and sisters will be coming up for the baptism the end of May - so we will be thrilled to introduce Joseph to the rest of his family then! :)
