This weekend, Michael and I are taking a trip! We will be celebrating the Valentine's Day/President's Day long weekend in Beaver Creek, Colorado!
When I was in my last position at Cargill, I worked with our transportation group in helping them organize a meeting in Beaver Creek. The manager really wanted me to go to the meeting to help out and as a thank you for me doing so much for them - but after pleading with the head of our business unit, it was a no-go. So this manager promised me that when he got a free weekend out of working with this resort (he had used them for quite a few years) that he would give it to me.
So we will be staying in a one bedroom condo at The Charter in Beaver Creek! Beaver Creek is about 10 miles from Vail...a little over 2 hours west of Denver. So we will leave here Friday after work and fly into Denver. And since our gift certificate is only for a two night stay (and since the hotel told me the 3rd night would be going for $700!!), we decided to stay west of Denver in a hotel using our Marriott points. Then Saturday morning, we will get up and drive out to Beaver Creek.
We have gone back and forth as to whether we wanted to ski or not while we were there. It's been over 10 years since I've skiied and Michael has never skiied - so we would both need to take lessons, etc. The more we thought about it, the more we thought we could really just use a relaxing long weekend away...we just didn't want to come back super exhausted from skiing all weekend. SO...our plan is that Saturday we are going to the spa and are going to get a 50 minute massage each! Sunday, we are going on a 1/2 day snowmobiling tour! It will last about 4 hours and we're supposed to go up to 13,000 ft. We decided to just share a snowmobile since it was cheaper and with it being a 4 hour trip, we could each have a chance to drive. Besides these activites, we will just relax, sightsee around the towns, eat at new restaurants and just have fun! We'll come back on Monday afternoon - luckily it is a Cargill holiday.
We'll be sure to take lots of pictures - and some videos if you're lucky. ;)
Happy Valentine's Day from the Z's!

Sad but funny...
You should see him now! It's been above freezing for several days. So really all has left is half of a rear end. :( He was good company while he lasted! I think the saddest part is seeing all his body parts and buttons in a pile on the ground....hahaha.
