So glad the weekend is finally here. I don't know if it was the time change last weekend or what, but I was just dragging all week. So it was nice to get a good night's sleep last night! Sorry I haven't posted pics in a while - we just haven't really done much that has presented photo ops!
This morning I went out to Target and the grocery store which leads me to this post. This is something I think about almost every time I go to the grocery store, so I finally decided to just share my random thoughts. :)
I walked in this morning and as usual the grocery store starts you right out in the produce section. Besides being thrilled that the yummy strawberries and blueberries were on sale, I just looked around at all the amazing fresh foods we have to choose from. I guess it just all makes me think just how lucky we are...to live in a country where we have endless number of huge stores just full of every type of food you could ever want or desire. I think about people in Third World countries that barely have water drink and are lucky to get a few scraps of food a day, and I feel guilty that I'm in a building stuffed full of food and I can just pick and choose whatever I want to buy. I have the luxury of passing up on buying foods because I just don't like the taste of them, whereas I know so many other people would eat anything presented to them.
I know it's random - but just something I felt I should share. I don't want to take for granted the simple luxuries in our life - but it really is a blessing that we have food to eat at every meal, and I'm so very thankful.

My Fine Feathered Friends
That's right people - my fine feathered friends have return home!
The geese and ducks are flying back in as we speak! The other day Michael and I went to lunch on a work day. We were driving down the road and I saw two geese standing on a little pond. My initial thought was "Wow, I guess the lakes are still pretty frozen." Then it dawned on me - those were geese standing on the lake! They're back!!! You know what that means - winter is OVER and spring is here!!
I drove past another lake today on my way home and it just cracks me up the way the geese just stand on the lake. They stand there looking quite confused (as confused as geese can look I suppose). I'm sure they're trying to figure out where in the world their 10,000 lakes went. But then part of me imagines the sad but funny moment when the ice thins out and they take a little plunge down into the cold water. ;)
Most people here get quite annoyed by the geese - I mean sure they poo on your car constantly, stop traffic on a lot of roads and hiss at you if you walk too close - but to me seeing them means it's safe to live in Minnesota. I've realized that they have the right idea. They know that September/October is a great time to get the heck out of here. And, they are smart enough to know when to come back after the rediculous winter is over. I never knew I could learn something from a goose. :)
(although I'm still a little traumatized from the goose that bit me on my back at my grandparents house when I was 3 years old when my cousins and I decided to play chase with it)
