Townhouse!

Ok, 2 posts in one night, but I had a lot to say after not posting for a week!

It's official...we're moving! (again!) After a few weeks of looking at townhomes, we found the perfect one for us. It's in the town just west of where we are now called Chanhassen. We can't wait! The house is just beautiful although it was quite a rollercoaster ride getting it to be ours.

The townhouse was up for sale at the same time it was up for rent. (we're just going to be renting it) Well, we both fell in love with it after seeing it Easter weekend so we went back the very next day and filled out the application in hopes of beating any other potential applicants. So, our application got approved and the lady called and said they would love to rent it to us! Two days later I talked to her again and she said they had gotten an offer on the house and that they would be taking the offer. She apologized profusely and really felt so bad, but they had their house listed since January so part of me couldn't really blame them for snatching up an offer in this awful market. We knew this was a possibility b/c the house would be kept on the market until we actually signed the lease, in case anything fell through on our end. But...we were waiting for the lady's husband to get back in town so we could go sign the lease.

Needless to say, we were devestated. I cried a bit and threw a couple of fits and Michael just kept repeating "I can't believe this!". We were just that disapointed. I'm a true believer in that you just know when something is right...and we both had that feeling about the house, so i was just shocked when we got the news. Michael, my mom and some friends kept telling me to not give hope and that maybe the offer wouldn't go through, but I was too afraid to even hold out hope on what I considered the "perfect" place for us. :(

So, needless to say...when I saw her number pop up on my cell phone in the middle of the day at work 2 days later, a ray of hope came through! And sure enough...the offer had fallen through. They said they were taking it off the market and if we wanted it, it was ours! Wahoo!!! (insert the Kyla happy dance here!) :) So, we went Sunday night and signed the lease! It is officially ours and we will begin moving in the middle of May!

It's about 1600 sq ft...which was bigger than our house in Houston! It's a 3 level house with a 2 car garage. So basically, you walk in and either go downstairs to the bottom level where the 1/2 bath, office area and 2nd family room is or you go up to the living room and kitchen. From the kitchen level, you go up 1/2 a level to where the 2 bedrooms are and 2 more bathrooms. The owners are leaving their stainless steel appliances and the kitchen is just beautiful. Most importantly, there are tons of windows and lots of natural light that we love. Off the kitchen, there is a 10X10 deck with stairs that go down to the grassy backyard area that is basically shared by the other townhomes. Which means.....we get to do our favorites!! Michael will get to grill and I will get to have some potted flowers! And after having the longest winter of our lives, you have no idea just how anxious we are for that!

AND...now that we will have even MORE room, that means we are ready for MORE visitors!! :)

Des Moines

We had a super fun weekend with our friends Jared & Amber in Des Moines. We went down to visit Friday night. Saturday the guys grilled some fajitas for us for lunch while Amber and I talked about the essentials of life - our husbands careers, Hollywood gossip, and how fat we feel. haha

Sat night, J&A had a babysitter come over to watch the kids. And out we went for a night on the town! We headed to downtown Des Moines for dinner at Legends (sports bar type restaurant b/c i was with 3 March Madness enthusiasts). We had a blast just talking and laughing our heads off. We sat there for hours just visiting and it was great. We topped off the evening with a trip to Culvers for a frozen custard - which ended up with me having a "confrontation" with the store manager and Michael resorting to submitting a complaint on the restaurant web site when we got home. (long story that just results in awful customer service...but we got our custard, darn it!) :)

We got in lots of games of spades as usual too! So it was good times with the Bruggers!

When we returned to Mpls, we were thrilled to come back and see all the snow had melted! There was grass everywhere - wahoo! Then came Monday...............it snowed for 12 hours straight and dumped a fresh 6 inches of snow on the ground. Seriously people. But we are on a warming trend for the next few days that could even take us to the 50s!!
