We are back from our vacation to Cancun! We had such a great and relaxing vacation! It is never easy to come back to reality, but I felt like we had a nice long week and it didn’t go by too fast!
We got there Saturday and got checked into our first hotel – the Fiesta Americana. I had a discount there through my work and we got upgraded to a corner master ocean front suite! It was so nice! The bathroom alone was probably the size of our current living room! We headed out that night for dinner at a local Mexican food place – so yummy. I decided the salsa and guac wasn’t enough and that we needed queso – boy it was the stretchiest cheese I have ever seen! (see pic below) Sunday we spent all day at the beach followed by a nice dinner at Isla Contoy, the hotel’s outdoor restaurant on the water.

The stetchiest queso ever! Took me forever to figure out how to eat it!
The open air church we went to for Mass on Sunday.
Ahh, the life!

After dinner the first night
Washing our hands to enter the Isla de Mujeres (part of prevention efforts to stop the spread of the flu)
On the scooter! Holding on for dear life!
We toured a turtle farm on Isla de Mujeres
On the most eastern tip of the island
Wednesday we had a beach day all day and all got quite a bit crispy! It was so relaxing though. The guys went and played beach volleyball for a while and Lauren and I just visited and napped in our chairs. Thursday, we toured around Cancun some and went to Senor Frogs and Carlos & Charlies (during the day). Then Friday we enjoyed one last day on the beach, swimming in the ocean, soaking in the pool, kayaking, etc. Good times!
All sandy after a dive in the sand during beach volleyball
Michael and Luke at Senor Frogs
Me and Luke with our huge drinks - don't worry it was just diet coke! :)

Each night we got all fixed up for our dinners and then enjoyed the nightly shows they had at the resort. All the staff was super nice and always there to offer us some sort of tasty beverage. ;) It was a really nice trip….we had great weather, stayed at fun places, got some great pics, and had a wonderful time being with Lauren & Luke. Here are some of our good evening shots:

Ahh, the life!Monday, we headed to the Riu Palace and met up with Lauren and Luke. Tuesday, we took a 30 minute ferry ride to Isla de Mujeres – a little island across from Cancun. We rented mopeds and drove around the whole island. Michael just about killed us a couple of times because as he put it he “accidentally hit the gas instead of the break”. Not a good situation when a golf cart is headed straight for you! J We had a nice lunch at a restaurant right on the tip of the island.
