Crystal Beach

This past weekend we went to visit my dad and some other relatives that were renting a beach house in Crystal Beach, a ferry ride across from Galveston.

Crystal Beach was destroyed a few years ago by the hurricane so it was great to see how many new beach houses have been built since then. It was also our first time to the beach since moving back home and the first time obviously for Joseph to see the ocean!

He took a nice long nap in his stroller under the canopy so Michael and I were able to visit with my dad and uncles for a while. They run big fishing lines off the beach and unfortunately we didn't get to see them catch anything while we were there but they did catch some huge fish and even a couple of sharks! :O

Joseph finally woke up and we got to let him dip his feet in the water and stand in the sand. It was so cute to watch him check out his new surroundings. We also spent some time in the beach house visiting with my Grandpa Eckel. He is 89 and has been going through chemo for some cancerous spots on his lungs, so it was great to see him again and visit. Special moments like this remind me of just how thankful I am that we are back in TX and close to family again.

We had to wait a while for the ferry, so after I fed Joseph in the car I let him just look out the window while we sat in line for the ferry. It was such a gorgeous day!

Walking from the beach house to the beach, just a couple of blocks away.

So many new things to look at!

So glad you guys were able to go and enjoy the day at the beach with the family. Joseph looks cuter than ever in his beach gear. Nothing says "Welcome back to Texas" than a trip to the beach!! :-)
