Butterfly Garden

We had a very fun outing in July with my friend Bridget and her three girls.  We went to the Science Museum and went to the Butterfly Garden exhibit.  I've only been once in my life and it was back when Michael and I were dating!

It was such a fun day and the kids had a blast! Before you get to the butterfly gardens which are in this big glassed in domed area, they have several rooms of interactive stuff for kids all about butterflies as well as every kind of insect you could imagine.  So that made the visit just perfect.  Even though our kids aren't big enough to "learn" all the facts, they still are so entertained by all the hands on stuff they can interact with.

The kids all really noticed the butterflies flying around, even Andrew!  They also had a big bee hive exhibit so we got to teach them about how bees make honey.  They have a big waterfall area and lots of little pathways all through the trees and rainforesty area, so they all had so much fun running around....and Bridget and I just tried to keep them all accounted for.  :)

At the welcome caterpillar just inside the entrance.  This was the best we could get with all 4 of the big kids.

They had these big flowers that had a little shape sorter thing in the middle of each flower...our kids played with those things forever!

Andrew putting a block in the rectangle flower

In the more "learning" type area...look at Andrew's face in the background!

Joseph loves pushing buttons on all the computer screen activities

Going inside the butterfly garden

Andrew spotted one right away!

In front of a little aquarium they had inside.

Love this picture of all 4 kids spread out and all observing their surroundings (Alexandra in far back, Joseph, Victoria and then Andrew)

After lunch, Bridget had to head out so me and the boys went through the exhibit all again!  Here they are playing in the big "bee hive"

This time going through, Joseph wanted the little sheet that helps you identify the different types of butterflies you see.  We actually were able to identify a couple of them.

Andrew spotted another!

Getting ready to head down the stairs to the bottom of the waterfall area.  Such fun!

Ok that looks like a super fun place! Your boys are so cute and they just look like they loved all the things they saw. You're such a good mommy taking them to all these different places! They always seem to be so 'into' all the things they see! So so fun!
