Michael had a 2 week span where he was out of town the entire week, flew home for the weekend and then flew back to Decatur, IL. I stayed at home the first week with the boys but the second week decided to head to Dallas to spend a few days with my sister Katherine and visit some friends while I was there!
It was a really fun and busy few days in Dallas. We went up Monday morning and came back Thursday afternoon. Joseph and Andrew had so fun with their cousins Jacob, Luke and Sarah! Jacob and Luke were pretty bummed they had to go to school while we were there but we made the most of our free time in the afternoons together.
Tuesday was our first full day there. We went to the mall and let the kids play for a while...which pretty much resulted in Katherine and I both taking turns trying to keep Andrew from running out of the play area to go look at the little train! ;) Then we headed to lunch followed by shopping at a few stores for kid clothes. My kids were quite pooped after our fun day at the mall!
That evening, I drove to Ft. Worth to see my sweet friend Amber from A&M. She has two little ones and her oldest is Tate who is just a few months older than Joseph. We ordered pizza and had some great time to let the kids play and just chat in person. It was so great to see her and her precious family. It was so heartwarming too to see how fun the boys had. Joseph doesn't have many boy playmates so it's a fun time for him when he gets to play blocks and tractors with someone. :)
Wednesday, we ran a few errands together while Sarah was at preschool and then I drove down to Dallas to meet my good friend Misty for lunch. I met Misty when I worked at iMed here in Houston back prior to moving to Minnesota! Misty treated us to a great lunch at a wonderful restaurant near her work. The boys were beyond busy the entire lunch (ugg) but it was so fun to see Misty again and catch up with all she has been doing.
That afternoon while back at Katherine's, we picked up Sarah from preschool and took her, Joseph, & Andrew for a frozen yogurt. Then we went to Target to get a few things while waiting for Kat's boys to finish with faith formation. I told Katherine that it was really fun to just do "normal" day to day things together like run to Target, etc.!
Our last morning there, we got to take lunch up to Jacob and Luke and eat with them at the family table in their cafeteria. Jacob's lunch is first and then Luke's so we got about 30 minutes with each of them. They were both so cute and were excited to eat with their little cousins (although Andrew just wanted to crawl up and down the stairs of the stage the whole time). :)
Such a great week with my sweet sister and wonderful friends! It was a bummer to have Michael gone all week but it was nice to take advantage of the down time and take a trip to Dallas!
