Smiles & Coos

We are loving every day with our sweet Joseph. He is 7 weeks old now and is just so fun! It's hard to believe he has been in our lives for 7 weeks already - the time is going by so fast.

He is really losing that newborn look and getting his own little look and personality. He seems to recognize us and will follow us with his head when we walk around the room. He is smiling more and more each day and you can tell that sometimes he just wants to be talked to so that he can smile! There have been a few times where I am holding him in my arms and he has his pacifier in his mouth. Then I notice the edges of his mouth curve up...I take the pacifier out and he has this big smile on his face - it's just too sweet.

Over the past week, he has also started cooing a lot! It's been so much fun! When we sit there and talk to him and encourage him, he really responds and has started making little baby noises! Sometimes he gets his mouth in the right position and flaps his arms and kicks his legs, but no sound comes out. ;) So he's still working on coordinating it all, but he is doing great and making the sweetest sounds.

He is doing good at night too (knock on wood). He can get really spastic with his arms when he sleeps and we found he was waking himself up with rubbing his arms all on his face. So, we started swaddling his arms in and he now sleeps much better. He typically goes down for the night around 8:30ish then will wake up around 1 or 2am, then again around 4 or 5 and is usually up for the day around 7 or 7:30. I can definitely take that!

Here are some new pics. I tried many times to upload a video of him cooing but it's not working right now for some reason.

And 7 weeks!

Smiling at Daddy!

Love that sweet little face

He loves to get big eyes so he can take everything in!

Happy boy!

What a cutie! He does have a sweet smile! I love to hear babies coo, it just melts my heart! He's holding himself up so well and sounds like he's doing great at night! Glad things are going well. :)
