Solid Foods

Now that Joseph is over 6 months old, we have been able to introduce him to his first solid foods!
He started on rice cereal during his 5th month and did so well with it. While we were at my parents house last weekend, we were making a big bowl of guacamole so when we cut up the avocados I gave him his first bites of avocado! It's one of the suggested first foods since it is so healthy and full of good fats and nutrients. He was very interested in the avocado but he made the funniest face after he tried it! He did a few bites and then was all done. Once we got back to our house, I did avocado each day and he got better and better!

Then on Sunday, I introduced his 2nd new food: sweet potato! He has loved it from first bite and didn't make near the bad faces he did with the avocado. :P

I've been making his foods so far and will try to do so as much as I can. It's nice with the avocado and sweet potato because Michael and I eat those foods a lot too, so it's easy to make some for Joseph. To make the foods, I just puree them in the food processor and add a little bit of water to thin them out a bit. Then I fill up an ice tray and it makes the perfect servings that I can just take out each day.

I finally bought his high chair last week! I actually put it together all by myself! I was so proud, even though it was basically just snapping a bunch of parts together with no screwing required. I'm so proud of our little guy eating so good - he's off to a great start. He gets a veggie during the afternoon and then still has his rice cereal at dinnre time. Next up - plain yogurt and then banana!

Not sure what to think of his first taste of avocado
Joseph's new high chair put together by Mommy :)

He's so excited for his next meal!

Loves his new tray to bang on and he even managed to find a way to suck on the tray in between bites (oy!)

Mmm - first bite of sweet potato

Homemade baby food - avocado ice cubes on the left and sweet potato in the tray

And his silly little head turn he does - everytime I ask him in between bites "More??", he turns his head like this and it's so cute!

Aww, sweet boy. He looks so big sitting in his new high chair. And you go momma, putting his high chair together all by yourself. I'm so glad he is liking his new foods so much. Love his sweet smile!
