Fun in Florida

Michael and I just got back from our first little vacation with Joseph. We met up with our MN friends Jim and Heather for a vacation in Boca Raton, Florida - about an hour north of Miami. Jim's family has a condo there so we went and had a nice time! I'll try to break up the story recap with the corresponding pictures.

We left last Friday and came back on Tuesday. Joseph did great both flights and took some good long naps! We got into Miami Friday afternoon and Heather and Jim picked us up. We headed to Key Biscayne State Park just outside of Miami. They had a beautiful lighthouse there so we walked around there some and walked around on the beach for a bit. Then we drove down Ocean Blvd in South Beach but just drove thru since both babies were napping in the car.

Just arrived at the airport in Miami

Us with Heather, Jim and James - we finally got both babies looking!
Saturday, we went to the heated pool in the condo complex and Joseph enjoyed his first swim! He did so great! He liked swimming around with me and was quite content just hanging out on his turtle float. It made me so excited for this summer when I can take him swimming at our neighborhood pool! Then Saturday night, we went with some of Jim's extended family to a St. Patrick's Day dinner at their yacht club. After dinner, they had some irish highstepper dancers perform (similar to Lord of the Dance) - it was so good! Joseph was so mesmerized by the dancers and the live band and did so great sitting there for a while!
All ready for his first swim! And I didn't realize it when I bought it but his little float was a turtle too!

Sunday we went to mass and then back to the condo for lunch and naps for the babies. We had plans to go to the beach that afternoon but after getting stuck in traffic and realizing there wasn't a single parking spot to be had, we decided to change our plans. So that night we went to a local area that had cute shops and restaurants. The weather was perfect, so we got to eat outside at a yummy italian place and then got some ice cream for dessert. Such a nice evening!

Monday morning, we went to Gumbo Limbo which is a nature & education center. They also rescue sea turtles and bring them back to health before releasing them back to the ocean. They had a beautiful butterfly garden and observation tower where we were able to take lots of good pictures!

My sweet Joseph! I just love his smile here. (And he has 2 new teeth coming in, one on top and one on bottom...so that's why his hands are always in his mouth!) :)

That afternoon, we went back to the pool since the water is heated and enjoyed another great swim

Ahh...this is the life!

Then that night we headed back to the beach to walk around some and take pictures. It was such a beatiful evening so we tried to take as many pics as we could.

The waves came in right as Michael was trying to get out there for a picture - as you can see he was quite surprised when his shorts got all wet!
But we got a picture anyways :)
Fun times with friends! The babies were much too interested in the waves to pose!
Look at those waves!
He got in a nice smiley mood for these pics!
Our last morning, Joseph and James had fun playing through the sliding glass door at the condo
All loaded up with the baby gear and heading home
We had a really nice time on our trip and are so thankful we got to have a little vacation with Joseph and our good friends!

We had so much fun with y'all! My only wish is that we would have had more time together. You're such dear friends.
Can't wait for you to visit this summer in MN.
Love and miss you,
Heather :)
